These rules apply to both the individual KYC and the company KYB.
Formats and size
- Accepted formats: PDF, JPG, JPEG, PNG.
- Maximum size: 16 MB per file.
- Uploading a document of the same type as an existing one replaces it: versions do not stack up.
- Documents are stored encrypted.
Identity document photos work differently
In the individual KYC, the photos of your identity document are not uploaded as files: they are taken with your phone through a QR code, and the system checks each photo the moment it is taken. That is all covered in the article on capturing documents with your phone.
Every other document —proofs, contracts, company documents, the documents of the KYB's related people— is uploaded as a file, under the format and size rules above.
Automatic legibility check
Identity photos go through an automatic check before being accepted. A photo is rejected when:
- It is not an identity document (a bank card, a receipt, a screenshot).
- It cannot be read: out of focus, poorly lit, or with glare across the text.
- The holder's photo is not visible on the captured side.
- The document is cut off: all four corners are checked, and one outside the frame, behind a finger or lost in shadow is enough.
Front and back
The back of the document is required, except when the type chosen is a passport (a passport is a single page/image). For ID cards, driving licences and similar, both sides are asked for.
Document expiry date
The expiry date is optional.
- If your document does not expire, leave the field blank. That is the case, for example, with the Bolivian ID card for people over 60, which is valid indefinitely, and with other documents that do not expire. There is no need to invent a date or to put a far-off one.
- If you do enter a date, the picker only accepts today or later. If your document has already expired, renew it before verifying.
The same applies to each related person's (UBO) document in the KYB.
