KYC Individuals

The KYC for an individual account has 5 steps and only the account Owner can complete it. The order matters: the document photos come first, because the details read off them fill in the rest of the form.

StepWhat you complete
1Documents
2Personal information
3Address
4Employment
5PEP declaration

You cannot skip ahead: the sidebar only opens steps up to the first one still incomplete. Going back is always allowed.

Step 1 — Documents

You choose the document type (national ID card, passport, driving licence, military ID, permanent residence, state/provincial ID, visa) and take the photos with your phone:

- The front of the document.
- The back, unless it is a passport.
- A selfie holding the document.

There is no option to upload a file from your computer: the photos arrive from the phone through a QR code. The full detail is in the article on capturing documents with your phone.

Your details —names, document number, issuing country, nationality, date of birth, address— are read automatically off the front and used to fill in the blank fields on the later steps.

Step 2 — Personal information

- First names, surnames, date of birth, country of nationality.
- Identification number and issuing country (both required).
- Document expiry date — OPTIONAL. If the document has no expiry date (in Bolivia, for example, the ID card of people over 60 is valid indefinitely), leave this field blank. The app shows the hint "Leave it blank if your document has no expiry date (indefinite document)."
- (Optional) Social Security Number —only asked if your nationality is US— and gender.

Whatever the scan read is already filled in. Check it: matching the document is your responsibility, and you can correct any field.

A note on the expiry date: if you do enter a date, it must be valid and no earlier than today (the picker only allows future dates). If the document is indefinite, simply leave it empty and the verification is submitted all the same.

Step 3 — Address and contact

- Address (line 1 required, line 2 optional), postal code, country, region/state, city.
- Contact email and phone (both required).

Step 4 — Employment

- Employment status (employed, retired, self-employed, student, unemployed).
- Job title/position and occupation (from a catalogue).
- Estimated monthly income range in USD.
- Account purpose (buying goods/services, donations, personal expenses, operating a business, e-commerce, payments to family abroad, investments, freelance work, salary, protecting wealth, other).
- Source of funds (company funds, e-commerce resale, gambling, gifts, government benefits, inheritance, investments/loans, retirement, salary, sale of assets/property, savings, third-party funds).

Step 5 — PEP declaration (Politically Exposed Person)

- You are asked whether you are a PEP, are associated with one, or have no such connection.
- Where it applies, further details are asked: type of relationship, role/function, institution, country, start date (and end date, if relevant).

Submitting from this last step moves the verification to Under review.

If you photographed the wrong document on step 1, the only way to redo it is Start over, which deletes the photos and the answers you had already given. That is deliberate: the scan only fills blank fields, so details from the previous document would otherwise survive forever.
